Morgane Métraux Symetra Tour Michigan juin 2021

On the Sweetgrass Golfclub course in Harris, Michigan, Morgane Métraux started the tournament with a clear 69 and then a sensational 63 in the second round, which allowed her to enter the final round of the Island Resort Championship in 2nd place. Building on her experience at the beginning of the season at the Casino Del Sol Golf Classic, where she came very close to a first victory, which she finally conceded to the current leader of the annual ranking, Ruixin Liu (China), the player from Lausanne was able to remain focused on her game and on the objective to be reached. She made up a three-shot deficit in the final round to win with panache and a one-point lead. "My putting worked really well. I made several long and medium-length putts. That doesn't happen every day", said Morgane. "At the last tournament I didn't putt well enough, so I put in a lot of work on the putting green last week", she added.

The atmosphere on the course seems to have suited Morgane Métraux particularly well, as she said after her dream round: "We had a great time on the course. Everyone played without a caddie, so we were alone and talked a lot together, encouraging each other. It was great."

Her finish in Harris, Michigan, earns exemption into The Evian Championship next month, the fourth major on the LPGA Tour schedule this year. The Ladies European Tour member shared how this exemption was the ultimate cherry on top.

“The Evian Championship is my ‘little girl dream,” said Métraux. “I grew up just across the lake from it and that’s the first event I ever went to, it was the biggest thing for me as a little girl. I’ve always actually dreamed of playing in it and to know I am actually going to be there is amazing. To have home support is going to be really great so I am really thankful for the opportunity this week.”

Switzerland will be represented by two players, Morgane Métraux and Albane Valenzuela, at the Evian Championship. It is most likely this same pair that will also be travelling to Tokyo to take part in the highly expected Olympic Games at the end of July.
