Morgane Métraux delivered an great performance at the Hulencourt Women's Open on the Ladies European Tour (LET), finishing in a share of 4th place. The Golf de Lausanne professional confirmed her current form and climbed from 56th to 36th in the LET Order of Merit.
A Strong Start as Co-Leader
Morgane Métraux was one of the main protagonists from the very first tee shot at Hulencourt. An opening round of 68 (–4) placed her firmly at the top of the leaderboard, sharing the lead as part of a four-way tie. "It's a place where there's always 35 to 40 km/h of wind. It was also raining on Thursday. I had to dig in over the first nine holes before I could really play my game," the Lausanne-based player explained. She was particularly pleased with her driving – a decisive asset on a tight, demanding course with high rough where balls are easily lost.
The second round produced a quirky twist: all four co-leaders carded identical rounds of 72 (par), leaving them tied for third at the halfway stage.
Tough Saturday, Strong Sunday
Moving Day proved somewhat tricky for Morgane: five bogeys against three birdies resulted in a 74, slipping her a few places in a tightly packed leaderboard. But she bounced back emphatically on the final day. Five birdies powered a composed closing 70 (–2), bringing her total back to –4 and securing a share of 4th place.
"Overall, I'm very happy with my game. This 4th place also earns me a spot in the Scottish Open field in three weeks," said Métraux. The Scottish Open is a co-sanctioned event between the LET and the LPGA Tour – a special opportunity to collect ranking points on both circuits simultaneously.
Best Result of the Season and Scottish Open Qualification
This finish marks Morgane Métraux's best result of the season on the LET. Across nine events played, she has now recorded three top-10 finishes – following a 9th place in Australia and 10th at the Joburg Ladies Open. Her jump from 56th to 36th in the Order of Merit reflects her consistency.
Exactly at the season's midpoint, her form is heading upward – perfect timing ahead of the major summer events.
Victory for Chacarra
Spain's Carolina Chacarra claimed the title with a total of –12, three shots clear of Australia's Kelsey Bennett (–9) and India's Aditi Ashok (–7). For Chacarra, it was only her second LET event – an impressive statement of intent.
