Launch of the new training structure
26. March 2026
This year’s Swiss PGA apprentice education days took place at Golfclub Thunersee from 16 to 19 March 2026. A total of 26 apprentices from all three years took part. Special thanks go to Golf Club, its manager Adrian Borter and the members who made these valuable education days possible and actively supported them.
New and proven training structures
The education days reflected the ongoing development of the Swiss PGA training programme. Whilst the 14 apprentices in their first year were educated for the first time under the new training structure, the 12 apprentices in their second and third years continued to work under the proven existing system.
Of the first-year apprentices, 8 have a permanent contract at a golf club, whilst 6 are completing their education on a part-time basis. This mix demonstrates the flexibility of the Swiss PGA education programme and opens up different pathways into the profession of golf professional.
Diverse training content
The training days offered a wide range of practical topics:
- Teaching a basic understanding of the laws and principles of golf
- Conducting group lessons and effective training design
- On-course instruction, with a focus on real-life playing situations
- Organisation of tournaments and insights into club operations
- Targeted preparation for the final exams in October 2026
Through this combination of theory and practice, the apprentices were able to deepen their knowledge whilst gaining important experience for their future professional lives.
Attractive prospects with the Swiss PGA training programme
The education days have once again demonstrated how practical, versatile and forward-looking the Swiss PGA education programme is. It offers not only a sound technical foundation but also direct insights into the day-to-day life of a golf professional – whether in teaching, club management or tournament organisation.
