Joel Girrbach Secures Improved Category on the DP World Tour for 2025
30. October 2024
Joel Girrbach has done it: he’ll continue playing on the DP World Tour next season—and with an upgraded category. The Thurgau native has secured a full tour card for 2025, surpassing the status he received this year as a Challenge Tour graduate. The 31-year-old capped off his season with a solid 44th-place finish at the Genesis Championship in Incheon, South Korea, securing a place in the top 114 of the DP World Tour Order of Merit.
A Strong Start to the Season
Girrbach opened the season with impressive performances, especially during the first half of the year, which provided him with many points and high placements that ultimately locked in his spot in the rankings. By summer, he had recorded five top-20 finishes, including two top-10s. Girrbach reached his career highlight in early May, tying for third place at the Volvo China Open—a result that gave him a tremendous boost in the rankings and showcased his ability to compete at the highest level.
Challenges in the Second Half of the Season
While Girrbach shined in the first half of the season, the second half wasn’t as smooth. He faced several challenges, navigating fluctuating results across tournaments. Yet, despite these difficulties, he kept his focus on the ultimate goal: securing his tour card for the following year. In the end, his hard work paid off, and he achieved his objective.
Looking Ahead to 2025
With his improved category for the coming season, Girrbach not only has his place secured on the DP World Tour but also an excellent starting position to build on his achievements next year. The experience he’s gained and the proof that he can hold his own among the best should provide the 31-year-old with plenty of momentum. Fans and observers of the golf scene are eager to see how Girrbach will continue to develop in the coming season and whether he’ll deliver more standout performances.
