Swiss PGA Playing Member Mauro Gilardi celebrated another major success on the Pro Golf Tour by winning the Staan Open 2026 in the Netherlands. The 26-year-old Swiss professional secured the title with a birdie on the first playoff hole, claiming the second Pro Golf Tour victory of his career.

Gilardi produced three outstanding rounds of 66, 64 and 65 at Golfbaan Westwoud to finish the tournament at 18 under par, tied with Dutchman Dario Antonisse, the current leader of the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit.

The final round proved to be a long and demanding day. Heavy rain and thunderstorms delayed the start by more than three hours, but Gilardi remained patient and focused. After three early birdies and his only bogey of the day on the eighth hole, he responded in impressive fashion with an eagle on the 11th. Further birdies on holes 15 and 16 helped him reach the clubhouse at 18 under par.

Antonisse matched that score with a birdie on the final hole, setting up a playoff between the two players.

On the first extra hole, Gilardi showed his composure under pressure. Facing a three-metre birdie putt, the Swiss professional converted his opportunity, while Antonisse was unable to match him.

The victory is another highlight in what has already been an extremely consistent season for Gilardi. Before arriving at the Staan Open, he had recorded ten Top-10 finishes, including three Top-3 results, and was ranked fifth in the Pro Golf Tour Order of Merit.

With his victory in the Netherlands, Gilardi moves up to second place in the Order of Merit, putting himself in an excellent position in the race for promotion. At the end of the season, the top five players will earn playing rights on the HotelPlanner Tour.

The success also marks Gilardi's second career victory on the Pro Golf Tour, following his breakthrough win at the Cuber Open in Germany in 2025.

It was also a strong week for Swiss golf overall. Fellow Swiss player Nicola Gerhardsen produced a spectacular final round of 62 (-9) to finish third, just one stroke away from joining Gilardi in the playoff.

The Swiss PGA congratulates Mauro on this outstanding achievement and wishes him continued success for the remainder of the season and in his pursuit of promotion to the HotelPlanner Tour.
