While play at the prestigious Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour in Crans-Montana was slowed down by weather conditions, the Pro Golf Tour in the Netherlands saw plenty of action. Among the contenders was Swiss PGA member Mauro Gilardi, who delivered a strong performance at the Stippelberg Open, finishing inside the Top 10 and collecting valuable points for the Order of Merit.
The young player from Graubünden made a flying start to the tournament. With an opening round of 65 (−5), Gilardi immediately moved to the top of the leaderboard and positioned himself among the frontrunners.
In the second round, he faced a rockier start. A bogey on the opening hole was balanced by a birdie on the 7th, before another dropped shot followed on the 8th. On the back nine, however, Gilardi showed great mental composure, carding both a birdie and an eagle to sign for a 68 (−2) and keep himself well inside the leading group.
The final round once again demonstrated his quality. Birdies on holes 1, 8 and 15 kept him within reach of the podium. Unfortunately, a costly double bogey on the 18th hole denied him a Top-5 finish and left him just short of a shared fourth place.
Despite the tough ending, the tournament was a clear success for Gilardi. He collected more valuable points in the season-long ranking, climbing one position in the Order of Merit to 10th place with 10,790.10 points. The gap to the Top 5 stands at 3,245.42 points with just two events remaining. A finish inside the Top 5 would guarantee him playing rights on the HotelPlanner Tour 2026 – the second-highest professional golf circuit in Europe.
