09. October 2024
In a remarkable display of skill and consistency, Mauro Gilardi clinched the title at the 2024 Swiss PGA Championship with two impressive rounds of 65 and 68, finishing at an outstanding -9 under par. His exceptional play over the two days solidified his position at the top, leaving his competitors trailing behind.
The championship, held at the stunning Golfclub Bonmont, faced an unexpected challenge when severe weather conditions on the second day forced the course to close. Originally planned as a three-round event, the tournament had to be shortened to just two rounds. But Gilardi kept his cool, navigating the unpredictable conditions with precision to claim his well-deserved victory.
In the Senior Category, Swiss golf veteran André Bossert delivered an exceptional performance with rounds of 69 and 67, ending the tournament at an impressive -6 under par. Bossert’s consistency and experience shone through, securing his victory in the senior division.
Meanwhile, in the Women’s Category, Clara Pietri also faced challenging conditions but managed to hold her own. With rounds of 70 and 77, she finished at +5 over par, claiming the women’s title.
A huge thank you goes to Golfclub Bonmont for their excellent hosting, despite the weather disruptions. Their impeccable course management and welcoming atmosphere made the event memorable.
With Gilardi’s flawless rounds, Bossert’s senior triumph, and Pietri’s perseverance, the 2024 Swiss PGA Championship will be remembered for its dramatic weather, competitive spirit, and outstanding performances. Congratulations to all the winners and participants!
