In the spirit of collaboration and to further the game of golf
This November the 2nd annual Congress of the EPGAA took place in Antalya, Turkey. The EPGAA is made up of PGAs from across Europe who come together to collaborate, discuss matters of mutual interest and to further the game of golf across the continent.
In 2023, the PGA of Sweden and PGA of Germany, through a series of meetings and consultations, identified the need for an Alliance based on sovereign independent PGA organizations within Europe and the vision for the EPGAA was born. The goal of the EPGAA is to make National PGAs, and their Members, the game’s perceived most valuable asset in their own market.
Membership of the EPGAA now stands at twelve national PGAs with Austria and Turkey attending their first Congress this year and joining the existing members from Denmark, Finland, France, GB&I, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
At Congress topics of conversation and collaboration included education, strengthening the PGA brand, commercial opportunities and recruitment, especially related to women. The EPGAA will continue to work together throughout the year ahead for the benefit of all countries and PGA Members.
EPGAA Chair Kariem Baraka from the PGA of Germany said “We have had a fantastic 2nd Congress with our friends and colleagues from right across Europe. We have built trust and understanding and have a special bond that binds us together. We will continue to work for the good of the game of golf across Europe and collaborate regarding the challenges and opportunities that exist within the game of golf”.
Gavin Healey, Swiss PGA President, said "This year’s Congress was a fantastic chance for us, as a community of PGAs, to come together, share ideas, and learn from one another. It’s inspiring to see how much we have in common, especially our shared commitment to advancing this incredible sport through the dedicated efforts of PGA Professionals who drive the game forward".
