As the 2024 LPGA season draws to a close, Swiss golfer Morgane Métraux delivered a standout performance in Boston, significantly boosting her position in the Order of Merit and riding a wave of newfound confidence.
On Sunday, at the TPC Boston, Métraux left the 18th green with a big smile. She ended the tournament with a birdie to finish in the Top 10. With scores of 72, 71, 69, and a final round of 67, she finished the FM Championship at an impressive nine-under-par. This marked her second-best result on the LPGA Tour in 2024, following her 5th place finish at the Shoprite LPGA Classic in June. Her week concluded on a high note with five birdies and zero bogeys.
Reflecting on her performance, Métraux expressed her satisfaction: "I'm very happy with my weekend. On this difficult rough course, I had to put the ball in play and hit the greens, which is my main strength. I really benefited from that, especially when I rediscovered all my sensations with the driver on Sunday. And my putting improved a lot over the last two rounds."
Her strong showing in Boston was a continuation of the momentum she built during her previous tournaments. "The very positive thing is that I was able to use the confidence I'd built up in Paris, something I wasn't able to do in Scotland because of the wind and the specificities of links golf," she added. Looking ahead, Métraux is optimistic about her upcoming competitions, which she believes are well-suited to her style of play on the American circuit.
With at least five more tournaments on her schedule, Métraux remains focused on maintaining or improving her current ranking. She acknowledged the intensity of the season, noting that the two upcoming off weeks would provide only a brief respite. However, she remains calm and confident as she prepares to tackle the final phase of the 2024 season.
Morgane Métraux's journey this year has been a testament to her resilience and growing prowess on the LPGA Tour. As she enters the final stretch, all eyes will be on the young Swiss golfer to see if she can continue her rise and secure her place among the top contenders for the 2025 season.
