In the fifth and final tournament in Egypt, Alessandro Noseda and Loris Schüpbach (picture) finish in 12th place. Fiorino Clerici also finished in the top 20.

Spectacular final of the Pro Golf Tour in Egypt: At the Golf Club Sokhna, five players were tied at eleven under par after 54 holes. Thanks to a sensational approach on the first extra hole, Belgian Yente van Doren secured the title at the Red Sea Egyptian Classic 2022.

The best Swiss players were three strokes short of a play-off after three rounds. Alessandro Noseda started with a 71, then improved to a flawless round of 67. Combined with a final-round 70, the result was a total of eight under par or 12th place. "I should have made better use of my momentum with two birdies on holes 11 and 12 to make up my deficit to the first, but unfortunately it didn't work out this time," Noseda said at the conclusion in Egypt.

Loris Schüpbach also finished the tournament at eight under par. The neo-professional had started very strongly with two rounds of 68, but fell out of the top 10 in the end with four bogeys and four birdies. Nevertheless, he was "very satisfied". "After I had to cancel the last tournament at the last minute because of Corona, I was very weak at the beginning of the week and had strong symptoms. The first practice round here was still very tough and my body lacked energy. So I am extremely happy how very well it went on the three tournament days".

Two strokes behind follows Fiorino Clerici in 18th place. The man from Zurich had started rather unluckily with an "out-ball" in the first round, among other things, but then fought his way back before the final round. This, in part, with an eagle-birdie finish. The round of 67 brought him up to 25th place, and in the final he made up a few more places with 70 strokes. "I'm satisfied with the way I fought my way back after the unsuccessful start and proved once again that I can play my best golf when it counts," commented Clerici.

Amateur Mauro Gilardi and Marco Iten finished the tournament in Egypt in 37th place. As the sixth Swiss in the field, Luca Galliano had also qualified for the final. However, with a final round of 77, the Ticino player fell well behind.
