The J+S monitor course in golf is a key component of the education and development of golf coaches in Switzerland. The course provides the pedagogical, sport‑scientific, and organizational foundations necessary to teach children and young people according to the principles of Youth+Sport (J+S).

Course Content and Objectives

  • Fundamentals of training planning for children and youth golf
  • Methodology and didactics specific to golf
  • Introduction to the five coordination factors and sport‑specific movement skills
  • Safety, ethics, and responsibility in training (including a mandatory ethics pre‑assignment before the course)
  • Planning and conducting age‑appropriate training sessions

Course Organization

  • The basic course usually takes place in Tenero or Magglingen
  • Accommodation is typically provided at CST Tenero, often in shared rooms
  • Practical sessions are conducted on the golf course, for example at Golf Club Gerre Losone, with daily on‑course training
  • Transportation is organized on site in coordination with participants

Preparation Requirements

  • Completion of the mandatory ethics pre‑assignment
  • Bring the Swiss Golf manual “Golf – learning through play” if you already own it
  • Participants with food allergies must notify the organizers in advance

Importance of the Course

The J+S monitor course is mandatory during the first year of training for Swiss PGA apprentices and forms the foundation for:

  • Pedagogically sound work with junior golfers
  • Independent planning and execution of training sessions
  • A deeper understanding of developmental stages and training content in children’s and youth golf
