This year's Swiss PGA Championship was held at Golf Limpachtal. After three rounds, Luca Galliano and Steve Rey were able to lift the Swiss Champion trophy in the men's and senior categories.
by PGA HeadquartersAfter the traditional opening Pro-Am of the Swiss PGA Championship on Monday, more than forty players and teaching professionals took the start of the last tournament organised by the association this season. In the first round, the young professionals took the lead in the men's category. Sasha Wortelboer and Raphaël de Sousa both returned the best card of the first day (68) and were two shots ahead of their nearest challengers, Loris Schüpbach and Luca Galliano. The ticino player then improved his score each day to finish with a clear 5 shot lead over the neo-pro from Uetliburg. This is the first time that Luca Galliano wins the Swiss Champion title. Third, the podium was completed by Zeno Felder and Sasha Wortelboer.
In the senior category, the first day was very good for Hassen Ben Othman, teacher at Golfpark Moossee, who played a 69 (-3) and was 5 strokes ahead of the defending champion Steve Rey. Rey did not manage to improve his score immediately and again scored 74 (+2) in the second round. But the experienced player from the Valais finally made his mark on the last day, playing the best round of the day and of the championship with 7 birdies and an eagle to finish at 65 (-7) and with a new Swiss Champion title in his pocket. Second place went to Jerome Rappard and third place was tied with Vivian John Ross and David Thompson.
The Swiss PGA and all the players present would like to thank Golf Limpachtal for the excellent cooperation and the perfect organisation of the 2022 Championship.
