Another podium on the LET for Morgane Métraux and a successful first cut on the DP World Tour for Jeremy Freiburghaus this weekend.
by PGA HeadquartersAs everyone knows, at the end of the year, the start and end of the international tours seasons overlap. Last weekend, while Morgane Métraux finished her 2022 season with the Ladies European Tour Final, Jeremy Freiburghaus was already starting his 2022-2023 season on the DP World Tour in South Africa. Both put in strong performances.
Two weeks after having brilliantly saved her place on the LPGA Tour for next season, the younger of the Métraux sisters travelled to Spain for the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de España, accompanied by her elder sister. Morgane had qualified for the European Tour Finals thanks to her third place in Belgium and her victory at the Italian Open this summer. A confident Morgane shot 68, 70, 67 and 69 (-18) to finish on top of the leaderboard, tied with Caroline Hedwall. The victory was then decided in the play-off where the Swede took the lead with a birdie (against a par) on the fourth extra hole. Morgane ends her 2022 year with another excellent performance after her two other podiums on the LET and two Top 10 finishes on the LPGA Tour, where she will continue to play next season. Also competing in Andalusia, Kim Métraux finished in 17th place (-8).
On another continent, Jeremy Freiburghaus played his first tournament as a member of the DP World Tour, the European reference circuit. Freiburghaus easily made the cut at the Joburg Open thanks to two good first rounds with scores of 68 and 72. He finally finished in 39th place, after two final rounds of 70 and 69 (-5 overall). After this good start to the season, Jeremy will remain in Johannesburg to play in the Investec South African Open Championship on Thursday, the second tournament on the DP World Tour calendar.
